Alien Invasion!!!

Someone please tell me when the alien invasion took place today! My best guess is somewhere between 3:30 and 3:36 this afternoon. Because, that is when my darling daughter took on a different personality. I mean, that could be the only explanation for the explosive monster that had meltdown after meltdown. It certainly could not just be tired from no nap! ;) I kid you not, put all Reagan's bad days from the past almost three years, and they don't even come close to comparing to this one evening. The last straw led Reagan to bed, where I did the one thing I said I'd never and haven't yet (until tonight) done...let her cry herself to sleep. Granted, it was 2 minutes long but, in mom years, it's hours. Lifetimes, possibly. Let's hope the alien exorcism remedy is sleep. I'm pretty sure Dr. Spock would recommend it, although I'm sure he's not an expert on aliens.

Reagan was drawing last night and made a beautiful portrait of me :) She has really been adding detail to everything she draws or writes. You will notice what appears to be four eyes at the top of my head. She explained that the bottom circles are my eyes, but the top set are my eyelids! What kid includes eyelids? Maybe lashes or even brows but Reagan strives to vary from the norm ;) Of course I have some hair sprigs on top because my hair was pulled up. Notice the nose with nostrils, or as Reagan says "you know where you're snot comes from". (I just shake my head). Then, my mouth looks exceptionally full, but it's my "lots of teeth" because I'm smiling. The color marks on the sides are my cheeks and the circles are my ears.
She's also now writing all the straight letters of the alphabet. She just really enjoys writing. She's rarely without pen and paper in hand.

She amazes me.

A couple of weeks ago was picture day at school for Reagan. We got back the proofs today to review and then we have the option of buying if you like them. I have to admit I was totally expecting Reagan's usual "who the heck do you think you are?" look with the crinkled eyebrows. Instead, I got this picture... I think it turned out great!! There are actually two other poses. One is pretty decent and the other not so smiley, but not scowly either ;) That's a plus!

Since I've been rather neglectful, here's an update of Reagan this week...

They have been learning about Stranger Danger this week at school. This has been her focus today since I picked her up. I asked her what she learned about stranger danger, and she said "Yell, scream really loud, and kick. And it's okay to be loud".

We've been talking birthday talk so we can start planning. She has mentioned both Cinderella and Ariel, which is rather surprising because she has never watched Cinderella and she likes Ariel because she has red hair. Who knows what her birthday party will end up being. I think we need to take a trip to the party store to peruse the aisles.
