A Trip to The Highlands

Reagan and I ventured out this morning to the Highlands to spend some of Daddy's money. We hadn't been over there since the newer stores opened. It's so nice!

Reagan has been doing such a good job going to the potty, that we celebrated by buying her sheets for her big girl bed. Yea, I know, finally. She had such a tough decision...Diego, Little Mermaid (her newest favorite thing), or Dora. She ended up choosing Dora, but Christmas is coming so maybe we'll ask Santa.

When we headed over to Michael's, they have Kid's Club on Saturday mornings, which I didn't know. One of the worker's asked me if I thought Reagan was able to paint. For all days not to have a camera!

Apparently, you pay $2 and then, do an activity. We did it, and Reagan had a blast! It's so nice in there. I haven't actually seen that at another Michael's before. We may have to return on another Saturday. She loves arts and crafts. The other people were very impressed by her work. She chose a cat mask and painted it all by herself. She picked bright pink paint that actually glows in the dark.

The finished product

When she wears it though, she won't put the pink side out for people to see.

She was very excited tonight to go to bed with her Dora sheets. Night night Reagie.

Pizza & Game Night

It was Pizza and Game Night at the Bennett's last night. Carrie, my sister-in-law, has much more pictures than me, but I do have two from the fun night. We all have so many different tastes (although Carrie and mine are very similar), we did a make-your-own. I had veggie, yum!!

Reagan shares some Italian Ice dessert with Audrey

We played some sort of game, to which I don't know the name. The important thing is, I WON!!! That happens, oh, say...NEVER! If we hadn't all been sleepy by that point (a sure sign of old age), I'm sure I would have done a little jig. We used to play games almost every weekend. Then, the the girls came and we hadn't had game night in some time. Now that they're older, I'm sure game night will be back on :) * hint hint*

A Rainy Soccer Game & The Potty

Yesterday, we attempted to watch my nephew, Josh, play soccer. I say, attempted, because we were there for a total of 10 minutes max when the storm hit. We raced to gather the girls and their belongings and huddle under a too-small-for-two-adult-women-two toddlers-and-a-ten-year-old blanket. We were soaked! They, or rather the coach's wife, ended up calling the game after several strikes of lightening nearby. Too bad. I hear Josh is a monster on the soccer field. They ended up coming over for a visit instead.

Reagan gives Audrey a make-over before she leaves

Reagan has been back going to the potty the last several days. Who knows how long this will last. She potty trained herself last summer and did really well. Then, she got sick and all confused and well, it's been downhill ever since. She has very willingly been sitting on the potty again (yay!). Yesterday, she needed changed one time, today NONE! Let's hope we're back on track!

An Update

Last week, I worked late everyday. I had no time to post pictures, or take any for that matter. So, I thought I'd let you see the few pictures we did take last week.

Mondays are Daddy/Daughter Bonding Day. Bill is off on Mondays so he and Reagan get to spend the whole day together. Typically, this means they hang out in their jammies all day and play. What's really great, is hearing how Reagan loves to dress daddy up in all her jewelry and put pretend make-up on him. I bet he looks simply mah-velous! Not too mention very manly. Occasionally, they do the boy stuff too. Changing oil in the car, shopping at Lowe's, etc.

Daddy & Reagan spent an evening in the sandbox digging. Pretty soon we'll have to close up shop for fall as we say so long to summer. :(

I peeked in at Reagan who had been playing the family room while I had been doing some house work. All of my pillows were on the floor in a trail and she was walking on them. She explained to me in a very matter-of-fact tone that she was walking on "icebergs". I see. Doesn't every two-year-old walk on icebergs? Silly mom.

Reagan's icebergs

Ta-da!

Reagan gets in a little reading time this week. Maybe she's a future Dr. Seuss.

On Saturday, Reagan and I went to a birthday party for my friend Crystal's little boy, Carson. Plenty of super cute Kodak moments, but guess who left her camera at school all weekend. I guess you'll just have to picture how cute they all were.

An Evening at the ER

Reagan and I were greeted Friday evening by a hobbling Billy home from work. Apparently, he had missed the last step at his customer's house and twisted his ankle. Although he likes to doubt my medical degree, I still assessed the situation. I prescribed Ibprofen, ice, and elevation for the diagnosis of a sprained ankle. However, because it happened at a customer's house, his work needed him to go to the ER to get it checked out.

As we all know, ER's are not the fast-paced versions we see on TV. At this point, it's Reagan's bedtime. She didn't do too bad, but how many things can you do to entertain a tired toddler for several hours? And forget sleep, there's too many things to check out. As we were waiting, in came a man and woman with a toddler. He was very interested in Reagan and decided to check her out up close and personal.

They were so funny together. They, of course, needed to exchange toys. Who wants there own old toys when there are new ones? They played pretty well together and he just turned two Friday. They even both have blankies. He tried to sample Reagan's who let him know that was a no-go. Reagan's pretty good with sharing, (unless your little Audrey ;)), but the blankie is totally off limits. He took Reagan by the hand and tried to lead her around the waiting area and was very affectionate by showering her with hugs. This, by the way, was not acceptable from Reagan. She kept trying to escape his embraces. Let's hope this continues until she's at least 30.

Eventually, Billy came out and broke up the little party. He, by the way, has a sprained ankle with an air cast and was told to take Ibprofen, elevate it, stay off for a few days, and apply ice. Hmm, sounds vaguely familiar...

Wedding Weekend & A Party Girl

This weekend my cousin, Nicole, got married. This meant, Reagan not only got to visit with lots of family, but she got to spend time with her Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Laney who made the trip in for the wedding. This is always great fun for Reagan who adores them. Reagan thoroughly enjoyed herself at the wedding. She was a dancing machine. She, literally, danced her little self to sleep.

Reagan has a new look on life through champagne glasses. ;)
These gorgeous eyes peek at me through a chair.

Reagan & Nicole

'One jello shot for you, two for us...' Why anyone would ever entrust these two with the dollar dance is beyond me. Above, is Billy & my crazy Uncle Al. (We love him).

Reagan & Hunter (my little cousin)

Reagan and Aunt Laney were on the dance floor dancing when Reagan's eyes couldn't stay open a minute longer. Literally, in the middle of dancing, out she went.

Uncle Jim cuddles with Reagan one last time before we all head home.

A Busy Evening

Reagan begins her evening cleaning. I just hope this favorite pastime continues in to her teens. I could use a good housekeeper ;)

You may think she is still cleaning, but this picture is actually a good hour later. Reagan and I went on a camping trip adventure. A blanket throw was our 'cave' according to Reagan and we even had a bear, which turned out to be daddy. In the 'morning', we went berry-pickin'. Reagan grabbed her bucket and gloves because the "forns (aka thorns) will hurt us".

After all that cleaning and camping, we needed a snack. A real one! Reagan is enjoying her ice cream sandwich. Or "chocwate!" as she so excitedly proclaims.

Princess Reagan

The new 'big girl' bed is going great. She loves it. Gracie (the socially inept cat) has been sleeping at the end of the bed. We still have to buy a new quilt for it. Right now, it has my old college quilt on it, which is temporarily serving the purpose. She told me tonight that she wants Diego sheets. How girly, huh? oh well, Mommy will pick out some pretty, girly, purple quilt; then we'll both be happy.

Princess Reagan wanted me to take her picture today while she was wearing her crown and jewels. She posed herself in front of the fireplace.

Reagan was beautifying herself this evening with an old compact I had given her. I was so tired of her sticking her fingers in my good makeup, that it just made sense to give her an old one. What was I thinking?

I decided to add this picture of poor Allie. Apparently, Reagan invited Allie to her makeup session. If you look close enough, Allie's nose is white on top--thanks to Reagan.

PreK Chaos & a Big Girl Bed

The first day for my preschoolers was Tuesday. The roster says 15, the head count says 15, but I swear, there were like 35 of them. The first month is always a treat. It has been all about crowd control so far. Forget name recognition and letters. Which, by the way, seems I have my work cut out for me. Not many of them can recognize their own name and a few have the glazed over expression like no one's home. We'll see what the year has to offer.

Moving on to Reagan...
Most of the summer Reagan wanted to sleep in the "big girl" bed in her room. Often, I would let her nap on the twin bed and at night, I 'd let her fall asleep and then transfer her to her crib. It's just so sad for me that she's growing up, I guess I have just prolonged officially transitioning her. She's been pretty determined to sleep there and gets mad at me in the morning for moving me. For example, yesterday morning as I was packing everyone's lunches she woke up yelling "I want my big girl bed, and you moved me". (geez, accusations). So, off to Walmart I went today and bought a bedrail. She was so excited tonight. I'll have to let you know how the night went. (Let's hope peacefully).

Family Picnic

Yesterday we spent the day with Bill's family. Reagan got to enjoy some play time with her 2 cousins, Aubree & Audrey. Yes, difficult for the adults to remember who's who, but Reagan can set us straight. She's about the only one who doesn't call one by the wrong name.

Aubree, Audrey, & Reagan enjoy the swing set

The playhouse was a huge hit!!

And the race is on....

One of the funniest events of the evening was Audrey & Reagan sharing a plate. They were each shoveling in food, trying to be faster than the other. The winner being the one who got the last piece of food on the plate. You would think no one feeds them.

Later, Reagan shared her cookie w/ Audrey w/o anyone even telling her. That's a change. These 2 are probably going to best buds, but we're preparing for catfights b/c they're each very spirited and strong-headed.

Aubree & Reagan chill out in their jammies on the swing.

Reagan and her friends settle down to watch a movie (Curious George) after a tiring morning of grocery shopping.

This afternoon, Reagan and I made a cake. She frosted it herself, but then I had to smooth it out a bit (ok, a lot). She had a blast, especially when it came time to taste test.
